Orthopedic Care

The orthopedic care program at Western Memorial Regional Hospital includes an orthopedic central intake clinic, orthopaedic clinic, and out patient physiotherapy. There are 17 beds in total. The goal of the program is to meet the orthopedic needs of patients in the region and to have a smooth transition from pre-admission, pre-operation, post operation and post discharge care.

Orthopedic Central  Intake Clinic
The goal of the clinic is to reduce wait times and provide quality care for patients requiring joint replacement surgery using a multidisciplinary approach.

Orthopedic Clinic
This specialty clinic is located on the ground floor of WMRH and provides a variety of orthopedic interventions for both out patients and in patients. The clinic team members include an orthopedic technologist, a part time technician, a physiotherapist and surgeons.

Orthopedic Unit
The orthopedic unit is located on the second floor of WMRH and has 17 beds (3 private rooms, 3 semi-private rooms, and 2 wards). There is a multidisciplinary team with nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, and physicians.

Outpatient Physiotherapy Clinic
The outpatient physiotherapy clinic is located on the first floor of Monaghan Hall (attached to WMRH). There are two physiotherapists, a support worker under the direction of a clinical lead physiotherapist. The clinic provides out patient physiotherapy services focusing on optimizing mobility and client teaching.
