Most Blood Collection Appointments to Resume
Western Health is pleased to announce that routine outpatient blood collection services will resume a regular schedule at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre, Calder Health Centre, Western Memorial Health Clinic, Deer Lake Clinic, Bonne Bay Health Centre and Rufus Guinchard Health Centre. All appointments for blood collection services will proceed as previously scheduled for these locations as of January 11, 2022. Patients will not be contacted to remind them of their appointments.
Routine outpatient blood collection appointments will not proceed at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital due to the redeployment of laboratory staff to support COVID testing. Urgent laboratory appointments will proceed at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital including patients scheduled for INR, transplant blood work, or chemotherapy blood work; these patients should go to their appointment at the scheduled time. We kindly ask for patience as there may be increased wait time during this timeframe.
All previously booked blood collection appointments for this week will proceed (except at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital). There are some tests which require samples to be processed at Eastern Health, and those appointments will need to be rescheduled due to operational limitations at Eastern Health. You will be advised at registration if your appointment needs to be rescheduled depending upon the type of test required. Please bring your paper requisition with you (if you were provided with one) to your appointment.
Western Health is advising that other services may experience disruptions over the next month as staff members may be moved to other program areas which require support due to an increase in numbers of individuals, including staff, who are diagnosed with COVID-19, and to support vaccination efforts.
