Dr. Susan Gillam, Chief Executive Officer for Western Health is pleased to announce that Dr. Christine Kennedy has been appointed to the position of Medical Officer of Health (MOH) for the Western Region.

(Corner Brook, NL- July  12th, 2012) Dr. Susan Gillam, Chief Executive Officer for Western Health is pleased to announce that Dr. Christine Kennedy has been appointed to the position of Medical Officer of Health (MOH) for the Western Region.

Kennedy, a native of Newfoundland has been living and working in other parts of Canada for the past number of years.  “We are extremely pleased to have Dr. Kennedy take on the role of the MOH”, said Dr. Gillam in making the announcement.  “Dr. Kennedy has been a tremendous asset to the previous organizations where she has worked and will now bring her expertise to the benefit of the whole region”.

Dr. Kennedy assumed her duties with Western Health on June 28^th, 2012.

The Medical Officer of Health is responsible for providing administrative and consultancy expertise to the organization in order to ensure the development and delivery of programs and services directed toward the prevention of disease, the promotion of health and well being and the elimination of health hazards as determined by a reasonable assessment of community health needs.
