Western Health Celebrating Seniors this month
This June, Western Health is celebrating Seniors Month with activities and events throughout the region. Western Health and community groups have developed events and activities for seniors in their local area, to encourage them to take an active role in their health.
“During June, we show our appreciation for seniors through various events in our communities and facilities,†says Kelli O’Brien, Chief Operating Officer for Long Term Care and Rural Health. “Those who attend the events will learn about healthy aging while being given an opportunity to socialize and make connections with their friends and acquaintances.†Western Health will be offering several events to celebrate seniors month with residents at long term care homes and other facilities with long term care residents.
“Some of the events will highlight ways seniors can incorporate healthy eating and activity living in their lifestyles,†says Michelle House, Vice-President of Population Health. “We will share information about health issues and preventative measures to help individuals make healthy decisions.â€
While there is no cost to attend these events, some events have a limited capacity and require pre-registration. Further information about the seniors events can be found at www.westernhealth.nl.ca and in the attached backgrounder.
