Restorative Care Program - Corner Brook Long Term Care Home
Restorative care focuses on enabling individuals to regain and retain their independence following the debilitating effects of an illness and/or injury that required hospitalization.
A 14 bed restorative care unit is available at Corner Brook Long Term Care Home and offers individuals the opportunity to improve and go home after an illness or surgery in a positive environment.

Objectives:
- To discharge individuals back to their previous living arrangement at an optimal level of functioning
- To reduce use of acute care beds for alternate level of care therefore improving access to appropriate acute care beds and reducing overflow
Eligibility:
- Individuals aged 70 and older with a length of stay in acute care at WMRH of greater than 10 days whose recovery requires a longer period of time.
- Individuals must be medically stable, and be able to tolerate 30 minutes of moderate to low intensity therapy 5 days per week within a therapeutic setting that includes nursing rehabilitation, a community dining room, and opportunities for socialization
- Individuals must have a sitting tolerance of minimum of 1 to 2 hours, 2-3 times/day
Cost:
There is no cost for board and lodging. There may be costs associated with attendance at outside functions.
Consideration for Restorative Care:
All individuals who meet eligibility criteria will be reviewed for suitability and their readiness for transfer to restorative care as a component of discharge planning from acute care, Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
