Western Health recognizes the need as a primary emergency responding agency to be prepared to meet the health related needs of the people of Western Newfoundland in an emergency situation. To ensure that we can meet this goal, Western Health has developed regional and site specific emergency response plans based upon nationally accepted Health standards. These plans called "Western Health's Universal Emergency Codes" are tested and updated on a regular basis to ensure that we can maintain and deliver our services during any emergency event.
If a disaster happens in your community, it may take emergency workers some time to get to you as they help those in desperate need first. You should be prepared to take care of yourself and your family for a minimum of 72 hours.
By taking a few simple steps, you can become better prepared to face a range of emergencies -- anytime, anywhere!
