This workshop will support parents in learning more about teen substance use and engage parents in a discussion about teens and drugs. The activities in this workshop provide parents with key information, local services/supports, tools and strategies for supporting their teens in preventing substance use, delaying the onset of use or reducing harms associated with substance use. Use this Guide to create your own Parent Night Out event or series of events. Timelines are provided for each activity, to allow for customization of your event or series. Motivational Interviewing is a client-centered counseling style for eliciting behavior change by helping clients to explore & resolve ambivalence. It is a non-confrontational approach that supports the client's right to choose where they want to be & how to get there. This workshop has been adapted to various populations & issues.
