Blomidon Place is an interagency counseling service that provides mental health promotion, education and prevention services, consultation, coordination, assessment and counseling services to children, youth (under age 19 years) and their families who have mental health issues and/or mental illness.
This mental health service accepts self referrals or referrals from other agencies on various issues. Referrals cover a wide range of issues including, eating disorders, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorders, parenting issues, family of origin issues, pervasive developmental disorders, behavioral disorders, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma, suicidal ideation, self-injury, and grief.
Blomidon Place serves the Corner Brook, Bay of Islands, and Pasadena area. This service was established in partnership with the Community Mental Health Initiative Inc. (CMHI) in 1996.

Parenting Information Sessions -Children
This 4 session support/education program helps parents/caregivers build skills for parenting children age 2-12. Some of the following topics included in the sessions are: child development, temperament, parenting styles, overindulgence, self-care, preventative and corrective discipline.
Parenting Information Sessions -Adolescents
This 4 session support/education program helps parents/caregivers build skills for parenting teenagers. Some of the following topics included in the sessions are: teenage development, temperament, communication skills, conflict resolution, preventative and corrective discipline.
This 12 week support/education program helps to improve relationships, communication and behaviours in families with children ages 2 to 12 years old. It is an extended Parenting Program for Parents and caregivers who are coping with complex family situations. Some topics included in the sessions are: parental self-care, family of origin, child development, parent/child relationships, managing difficult behaviours and communication.
Choices and Consequences
This 8 session support/education program helps parents/caregivers build skills for parenting teens with problematic substance use. Some of the topics included in the sessions are: drug education/awareness, signs and symptoms of drug use, stages of use, communication skills, enabling, logical consequences, harm reductions, treatment issues, relapse/relapse prevention.
This eight week support/education program for families who have experienced separation/divorce consists of a group(s) for children age 7-12, a group for teens, and a separate group for parents. Some topics included in the sessions are: understanding divorce and feelings families experience, introducing concepts of new family members, learning how the court system works for families, nurturing self-concept and self-esteem, and learning how to cope with feelings and situations related to separation and divorce.
ADHD Parent Education Group
This 6 session support/education program is for parents with children/adolescent who have been diagnosed with an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Some topics included in the session are: what is ADHD, types and characteristics, medications, common challenges, behavior and creating change.
This 8 week support/education group is for teens experiencing concerns related to anxiety and/or depression. Some topics include: understanding symptoms of anxiety/depression, exploring distorted thoughts and negative beliefs, increasing coping strategies and self-care.

V.O.I.C.E. (Voices of Incredible Children Everywhere)
This eight week group treatment program is for families who have experienced family violence. The program consists of a group(s) for children age 3-12, and separate group for parents/caregivers. Some topics included in the sessions are: what is family violence, who is responsible, indentifying and expressing feelings, understanding and coping with feelings, communication and self-esteem, and safety planning and supports.
That Was Then...This is Now
This eight week group treatment program is for children who have disclosed sexual abuse and their families. The program consists of a group(s) for children age 3-12 and a separate group for parents/caregivers. Some topics included in the sessions are: information on sexual abuse, understanding feeling and reactions, dynamics of sexual abuse, appropriate sexual behavior and empowerment.
