No Breach of Privacy in Computer Theft

Feb 11, 2015

Western Health has determined that there has been no breach of personal information as a result of the recent theft of two desktop computers. The desktops were stolen from Western Memorial Health Clinic on Herald Avenue in Corner Brook on Friday, January 30, 2015. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary investigation into the theft is ongoing.

Western Health has updated the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner on these developments. The stolen desktops were password protected and were used mainly for accessing information on Western Health’s mainframe system, requiring no storage of records on the user’s local computer.
