Occupational Rehab and Ergonomic Services
Occupational Rehab services are provided to employees of Western Health who have work related injuries or illnesses which are preventing them from returning to work. The Occupational Therapist's complete assessments and develop intervention plans that will assist the employee in returning to gainful employment.
Ergonomics is the "matching of the employee's abilities and limitations to the work environment, task's physical and cognitive requirements." Services are provided to individual employees and/or service areas which involve the assessment and identification of areas of work that place staff at high risk for musculoskeletal injury. Occupational Therapist's work with the facilities department during renovations or new work area design and materials management department during equipment procurement as well as other departments. As well, training programs are developed and implemented in various departments who are considered high risk for musculoskeletal injury.
