Cafeteria Services
Cafeteria Services is responsible for the production and distribution of meals and snacks to patients, residents and clients throughout hospitals, health centres and long term care homes at Western Health.
Patients receive 3 hot meals daily, all of which are produced in-house. All menus are based on Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating. Snacks and nourishments are available and may be requested for specific diets. Allergies and special modifications are communicated to the kitchen upon admission to a facility. Special diets may be ordered by a physician or registered dietitian, based on the medical condition of the patient or resident.
The largest site, Western Memorial Regional Hospital, offers a menu for patients to select their choice of meal. Menu selections are made one day ahead.
Residents and/or family members at our Long Term Care centers have input into menus through Resident Council Meetings. Special menu items offered include traditional Newfoundland entrees such as jigs dinner and fisherman's brewis.
