Cervical Screening

Cervical screening is available to all residents of the Western Zone at Family Care Team and Medical Clinics, whether they have a primary health-care provider or not.

Individuals may call their local health-care provider or Family Care Team to book a cervical screening (pap test) appointment. Every effort will be made to book an appointment at the nearest location.

Cervical screening guidelines recommend:

  • Routine cervical screening (pap testing) is recommended for individuals 21 years and older who are sexually active.
  • Annual cervical screening for three years; if all pap tests are negative, extend interval to one screen every three years.
  • Cervical screening may cease at 69-years-old if an individual has a history of regular and negative pap tests.
