Intensive Care Unit

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at WMRH serves as the referral unit for critically ill patients throughout the Western Region. Comprehensive care is provided to adult medical and surgical patients, pediatrics and other patients that require a higher level of support. The 8 bed unit has private rooms that have the capability of a full range of cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring. The unit is also responsible for the cardiac monitoring of 12 telemetry patients located in other inpatient units in the hospital.

The Intensive Care Unit at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital is a 3 bed unit that is utlized for optiumum care and close monitoring of the critically ill patients in this hospital who require specialized medical and nursing services.

Nursing staff who work in ICU must complete an in house training program or must possess equivalent training and experience from another facility. ICU nurses are also receive advanced training in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
