Presentation for Parents of High School Youth: Breaking the Worry Cycle

Apr 23, 2015

Corner Brook Regional High and Western Health are bringing together school personnel, mental health counsellors, and a local psychiatrist for an information session about worrying and anxiety. Excessive worry and anxiety are among the most common concerns for teens. Parents play an important role in supporting their children to develop coping skills.

“Breaking the Worry Cycle” will take place on Thursday, May 21, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Corner Brook Regional High in William Herdman Hall (Room 127). This event will include a presentation to help parents understand why youth develop problems with worry and anxiety. It will also provide tips and tools for parents to help their children build coping skills to manage anxiety or excessive worry. The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion. This is an opportunity for parents to ask questions and for the group to discuss this important topic.
