Temporary Visitor Restrictions at Western Memorial Regional Hospital

Dec 16, 2014

Please be advised that visitor restrictions are in place at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on the Medicine Units (Units 3A and 3B) due to number of patients with gastrointestinal illness.

Western Health would like to ask for the public’s co-operation during these temporary visitor restrictions.  Exceptions may be made in extenuating circumstances for immediate family members.  Please contact the inpatient unit directly before attempting to visit the hospital.

To prevent the spread of infection, we ask all persons to wash their hands or to use hand sanitizers when entering or leaving any of Western Health's facilities. As well, Western Health recommends that anyone experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms including vomiting and/or diarrhea do not visit any of our facilities until at least 48 hours after their last symptoms. It is also recommended that you stay at home if you are unwell, avoid preparing food for others and thoroughly clean all areas where people have been sick.

Western Health would like to thank families and visitors for their cooperation in helping prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

For further information about gastrointestinal illness, see Western Health’s website.
