Employee Wellness Program

The creation of a safe, healthy and supportive work environment is a vital component of Western Health's efforts to improve the health of its employees. The development of an Employee Wellness Program is one of the critical first steps. In Feburary 2006, the Employee Wellness Program was introduced. This Program augments the previous Employee Assistance Program of the Western Health Care Corporation and the Workplace Wellness Program of Health and Community Services Western by focusing on the health of the organization as well as employee's personal health. The exact nature of the programs and services is being directed by the identified needs of staff.

The Employee Wellness Program recognizes that the employees of Western Health are its greatest asset. A working environment that promotes well-being and recognizes the contribution of staff is critical. The philosophy of the Program is based on the belief that not only does an employee's health impact on their work but, also, the workplace itself impacts on an employee's health. A healthy workplace can provide mutual benefits for both the organization and employee as good health practices can lead to  individual and organizational fulfillment.

The Employee Assistance Program is available to all employees of Western Health. Employees can access this service directly and confidentiality of the service is of utmost importance. If an employee wishes to avail of this service please telephone  637-5306 (Corner Brook), 643-5111 Ext 349 (Stephenville), or  toll free 1-866-637-5306.
