Routine Bloodwork Appointments Cancelled in Corner Brook December 29-31

Dec 27, 2021

Western Health is advising of a temporary change to outpatient laboratory services (i.e., blood collection). All appointments for routine blood work scheduled December 29, 30 and 31, 2021 at the Western Health Clinic on Herald Avenue in Corner Brook have been cancelled.

This temporary change is being implemented due to increased staffing demands throughout the organization, including for testing, as well a number of staff members impacted by exposure notifications or who have symptoms and require isolation.

Urgent laboratory services will go ahead. Appointments will also go ahead for patients scheduled for INR, transplant blood work, or chemotherapy blood work; these patients should go to their appointment at the scheduled time. We kindly ask for patience as there may be increased wait time during this timeframe.

All other appointments are cancelled. Patients will be called to reschedule appointments early in the new year. If you have not received a call to rebook your appointment by January 17, please contact the bookings line at 1-833-459-0873. We ask patients to please refrain from calling the regional telephone bookings line to book or reschedule routine appointments December 29 to 31 inclusive.

Western Health recognizes there is an impact to patients who are awaiting routine bloodwork appointments and is working on a plan to increase access. Western Health apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks the public for their understanding.
