COVID-19 Vaccination Update

Apr 6, 2021

COVID-19 vaccination continues to roll out for residents of the Western region in keeping with Phase 2 of the NL Immunization Plan. Appointments continue to be booked for individuals aged 70 and older, Indigenous individuals and home support workers. Vaccination is available by appointment only and for people who are in the current priority groups. Please click here to pre-register. If you do not have internet access, please call 1-833-668-3930 to pre-register.

Western Health anticipates that everyone 70 years and older will be contacted and offered an appointment by April 23rd. If individuals provided an email when they pre-registered, they will be contacted via email with instructions on how to book their appointment online. Western Health asks individuals who have pre-registered to check their spam folder if they do not see an email in their inbox. If a telephone number was provided at the time or pre-registration, individuals will be contacted by telephone to book their appointment.

If you are offered a vaccination appointment and not able to travel to the location offered, you may choose to wait until a clinic is available closer to your home. By the end of April, COVID-19 vaccination clinics will be held in all of the communities where the annual flu vaccination clinics are offered.

Please be assured that if you have pre-registered for your vaccination, you will be contacted for an appointment at the earliest time available. Individuals with any questions related to the COVID vaccine may call 1-833-703-5470 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. seven days a week. There is a high volume of calls to this line. If you booked an appointment online we ask that you do not call to check on your booking.

While waiting for your opportunity for vaccination, and after vaccination, it is important for everyone to continue to follow public health guidance to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your communities including:

  • Wearing a mask in public
  • Washing your hands frequently
  • Respecting public health guidance on gatherings, travel and quarantine
  • Completing the online self-assessment at www.811healthline.ca or calling 811 if you are experiencing one or more symptoms of COVID-19 to arrange testing.

Western Health will continue to communicate as additional vaccine information becomes available and more clinics are set up. For more information on COVID-19 vaccines, please see Health Canada. For up-to-date information on the COVID-19 pandemic, please visit www.gov.nl.ca/covid-19.
