Designated Visitor Welcomed at Western Health Facilities

Recognizing the importance of family presence, Western Health is pleased to welcome one designated visitor/support person for each patient and resident in long term care (LTC), health centres and hospitals throughout the region.

There are guidelines in place to reduce risk of possible spread of COVID-19 to patients, residents and staff including:

  • All visitors will be screened for COVID-19 and be provided a mask, which they must wear during their visit.

  • Patients and residents can designate one support person/visitor, who will not change for the duration of visiting restrictions.

  • The designated visitor/support person will be contacted by Western Health to explain the procedure for visiting at each individual site.

  • For outpatient appointments and Emergency Department visits, a support person may accompany individuals who require assistance due to health issues or the nature of the appointment.

  • General visitation is not permitted at this time.

  • Obstetrics patients may have one support person who can stay for the duration of the mother and newborn’s stay and can visit as many times as they like throughout the day.

  • Complete guidelines are available here.

  • At Western Memorial Regional Hospital, there will be designated entrances for different groups (see here).

  • If there are concerns or questions about these guidelines, individuals may contact their health provider or Client Relations Office at 1-833-784-6802.
