Categories: General Date: Oct 28, 2010 Title: Western Health Celebrates Pastoral Care WeekWestern Health is recognizing the work of pastoral care this Provincial Pastoral/Spiritual Care Week. Pastoral caregivers of all faiths provide spiritual and healing resources to people throughout the region in hospitals, health centres and long term care facilities.
“The work of pastoral care is important to people in our health care facilities. Pastoral caregivers provide comfort and reassurance to patients and their families when it is needed,” says Dr. Susan Gillam, CEO of Western Health. “We take time this week to acknowledge their work and offer our appreciation for their specialized care.”
The Pastoral Care Allied Health Group and Newfoundland and Labrador Health Boards Association held their annual conference in Corner Brook earlier this month. The theme of conference and this recognition week is “Healing Presence.”
Pastoral care lanyards were presented to Dr. Gilliam and Rob Kenny, VP Human Resources and Organizational Development to wear in recognition of the week.
