Endoscopy Unit/Minor Procedure Rooms

General Patient Information:

• Please bring your MCP card and a list of all medications, including any vitamins and herbal supplements.
• Family members should accompany patients to assist with medical history, if needed, and to wait while their procedure is being performed.
• All nail polish must be removed.
• All jewelry, valuables, money and credit cards should be left at home.
• Upon arrival at the hospital, please register at the Outpatients Registration Department. You will then be given directions for the appropriate waiting area.
• If sedation is required for your procedure, please arrange for a responsible adult to be with you to take you home and stay with you for 24 hours following your procedure. You will not be permitted to drive for 24 hours after sedation.
• Please be aware that your procedure may be cancelled if the above criteria is not met. As well, please be aware that procedure schedules may be interrupted from time to time.

ENDOSCOPY SUITE I and II

Procedures performed are Gastroscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Dilatation, Colonoscopy and Bronchoscopy. Procedure time is approximately 30 minutes with an expected length of stay of 1.5 to 2 hours.

Patients for a Gastroscopy must fast after midnight but can take blood pressure pills with a sip of water.

UROLOGY/GYNECOLOGY SUITE

Procedures performed are Cytoscopy, Colposcopy, Cryotherapy and other Gynecological procedures.

MINOR OPERATING ROOM

Procedures performed are under local anesthetic and include the removal of lesions, biopsies, and vasectomies.
