Annually at Western Health, 5,500 – 6,500 procedures which require anesthesia support are performed. Western Health takes pride in the provision of quality surgical services for a variety of specialty procedures including, total joint and spinal surgery, cataract surgery and laparoscopic procedures.
Western Memorial Regional Hospital has six (6) operating rooms (OR) that provide elective and emergency surgical services to the region on a 24 hour basis.
The Postoperative Recovery Room has the capacity to recover 14 patients at one time. Provision of care for surgical patients is provided on a 24 hour basis.
Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital has two (2) operating rooms that provide elective and emergency surgical services to the people of the Bay St. George area.
The Postoperative Recovery Room at that site can recover 5 patients at one time.
A waiting room for family members of patients undergoing surgery is located just outside the operating room (OR). Family members can access information about patient’s admission/discharge to the Recovery Room by checking with the clerk at the OR desk or by dialing the Recovery Room on the phone just outside the waiting room.
