Wait times for some cancer related surgeries are being collected by each regional health authority in the province and reported quarterly to the Department of Health and Community Services.  A benchmark has not yet been determined  for receiving a surgical service following a cancer diagnosis. The management of most patients with a cancer diagnosis is based on type of cancer and individual treatment options.

The median wait time for cancer related surgery is calculated from the decision to treat and the patient is ready to the date of the surgical procedure.
