Western Health is pleased to announce that its regional Mammography service has achieved Accreditation from the Canadian Association of Radiologists through its Quality Assurance Process.
Western Health is pleased to announce that its regional Mammography service has achieved Accreditation from the Canadian Association of Radiologists through its Quality Assurance Process.
 
All three of the mammography units for Western Health which includes Western Breast Screening, and Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook and Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, were successful in meeting the requirements for Accreditation. 
 
“Patients receiving Mammography services from Western Health can be assured that they are availing of a service that meets strict national standards”, stated Sheila Freake, Regional Director of Diagnostic Imaging Services. “We are committed to maintaining this level of excellence on an ongoing basis. We also need to acknowledge so many staff that supported our Accreditation process.”
 
In November 2005 Western Health began the Accreditation process. The process has been ongoing until recently when Western Health was notified that it had met all requirements for a successful Accreditation.  Throughout the process a team of Diagnostic Imaging staff working diligently submitting the necessary requirements for review by the Canadian Association of Radiologists.
 
As part of this process, Mammography Technologists and Radiologist of Western Health are required to complete continuing education in this field.
 
Accreditation is for a 3 year period with a yearly review at each site.
