Western Health and Partners to Test Emergency Preparedness in the Gros Morne Area

Western Health will be testing its emergency preparedness by participating in a community-wide emergency at the Bonne Bay Health Centre in Norris Point on Wednesday, September 16.

The exercise will be conducted in conjunction with our Emergency Response partner agencies including: Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Parks Canada, Bonne Bay Ground Search and Rescue, the Town of Norris Point and Rocky Harbour, Norris Point Fire Department, Rocky Harbour Fire Department, Fire and Emergency Services NL, the Department of Advanced Education and Skills, Tryco Ambulance Service, Canadian Red Cross, Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) and the Paramedic Program with the College of the North Atlantic, Bay St. George Campus.

During this exercise staff at the Bonne Bay Health Centre will be testing their External Disaster/Mass Casualty procedures.

Residents of Norris Point, Rocky Harbour and the surrounding area may expect to see a number of ambulances and other emergency vehicles operating in the area during the exercise.

Regularly scheduled appointments and clinics at Bonne Bay Health Centre are not expected to be affected by the exercise.
