Visitor Precautions Update at WMRH

Feb 11, 2015

Please be advised that visitor precautions remain in place at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in the ER Hold Unit due to a number of patients with gastrointestinal illness and patients with influenza like illness. Visitor restrictions are removed from the Women and Children’s Health Unit.

During these visitor precautions:
•           Visitation is limited to one immediate family member
•           Children under 14 are not permitted to visit

Exceptions may be made in extenuating circumstances for immediate family members. Family members of patients in the ER Hold Unit are asked to call 637-5000 ext. 6342 before attempting to visit.

Visitors can help reduce the spread of infections at all Western Health facilities by:
•           Cleaning your hands before entering the unit and after visiting your loved ones
•           Visiting only one resident/patient
•           Not visiting if you are experiencing flu-like or gastrointestinal symptoms.

Western Health is reminding the public that the general visiting hours for the other units at Western Memorial Regional Hospital are from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and only two visitors are permitted at a time. Unit-specific visiting hours exist for some areas where visitors should check with staff for more information.

Western Health would like to thank families and visitors for their cooperation in helping prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
