Temporary Visitor Precautions at Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre (Update)
For Immediate Release
(Corner Brook, NL- July 2, 2014) Please be advised that visitor precautions remain in place on the south wing, Tranquility Place only at Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing. The visitation limitation is in place due to a number of residents on the south wing with gastrointestinal like illness.Â
Western Health would like to ask for the public’s co-operation during this temporary visitation precaution. Exceptions for visitation may be made in extenuating circumstances for immediate family members, however, they are asked to call before attempting to visit. The South Wing (Tranquility Place) can be reached by calling 709-646-5800 ext. 7236.
Visitor precautions are a series of infection control measures put in place to reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases which are common in health care facilities. They are designed to help keep residents, families, staff and visitors healthy and safe.
Visitors can help reduce the spread of illness by:
•             Checking with the nursing staff before proceeding to visit your loved one.
•             Cleaning your hands before entering the home and after visiting your loved one.
•             Wearing protective equipment such as masks, gown and gloves for the duration of the visit, if required. Nursing staff will advise which equipment is required, how to properly apply and remove it.
Western Health would like to thank visitors for their cooperation with these precautionary measures.
