Visitation Restrictions in Place at LeGrow Health Centre, Port aux Basques - Jan 28, 2008

Western Health would like to advise that visitation to the Long Term Care Unit at Sir Charles LeGrow Health Centre, Port aux Basques will be closed until further notice due to a spread of a gastro-intestinal illness, including vomiting and diarrhea.

Western Health would like to ask the public’s co-operation during this temporary visitation ban. Special visitation provisions may be made for patients who are critically ill or receiving palliative care on a case by case basis. In such cases, family members are encouraged to call the Long Term Care Unit at the Health Centre prior to visiting.

People who have had vomiting and diarrhea or other flu like symptoms are asked to refrain from visiting any of Western Health’s facilities. Individuals with any of these symptoms should rest at home, drink fluids, practice proper hand washing with hot water and soap, and if the symptoms persist contact their physician.
