Western Health would like to advise that visitation to Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville will be closed until further notice due a suspected outbreak of Norwalk virus, a stomach flu like illness, including vomiting and diarrhea, within the hospital.

Western Health would like to ask the public's co-operation during this temporary visitation ban. Special visitation provisions may be made for patients who are critically ill on a case by case basis.

In the meantime, the temporary visitation ban at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre, Stephenville Crossing has been lifted and the facility is now open for visitation.

People who have had vomiting and diarrhea or other flu like symptoms are asked to refrain from visiting any of Western Health's facilities.  Individuals with any of these symptoms should rest at home, drink fluids, practice proper hand washing with hot water and soap, and if the symptoms persist contact their physician.
