Western Health (Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital), along with other groups and agencies will be testing its emergency preparedness with an emergency exercise in Stephenville on Wednesday, September 28th, 2011.
The exercise is being coordinated by the Stephenville Airport Corporation and the Town of Stephenville. Other agencies involved in this exercise include: The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Stephenville Fire Department, Human Resources, Labour and Employment, The Marine Institute (SERT Centre), Canada Border Services Agency and Fire and Emergency Services, Newfoundland and Labrador.
This exercise involves a simulated aircraft crash on the Stephenville Airport Corporation’s property and will test each agencies individual response procedures and the ability to coordinate appropriate response actions to similar real life emergencies.
Residents in the Stephenville area may expect to see a number of emergency vehicles and personnel in the area of the airport property and Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital during the exercise.
Please be advised that Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital will be fully operational during the exercise and no pre-scheduled appointments or procedures will be impacted.
Residents of Stephenville and the surrounding area who require emergency medical services or the services provided by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or the Stephenville Fire Department should contact these agencies at their regular numbers.
