Western Health Launches Healthy Aging Calendar

Jan 13, 2011

Western Health is pleased to release a Healthy Aging Calendar for 2011 that features thirteen seniors from the western region. Western Health staff members were asked to nominate people who they thought conveyed healthy aging through three categories: Participation, Ambition or Involvement. From those nominees, a senior was chosen to be featured in each month and on the cover.

“It is important that people of all ages understand more about healthy aging,” says Anne Doyle, Regional Director of Long Term Care. “We can do that when we promote an age friendly culture within our own organization and through our programs and services. The Healthy Aging Calendar features people that show excellent examples of healthy aging.” All of the nominees are volunteers of various organizations in their community, or active in their communities through music or sporting groups.

Supporting healthy aging and a culture of respect for older adults is a strategic goal for Western Health as part of supporting the Province’s
Healthy Aging Framework to meet the needs of the aging population of the western region.

Western Health thanks all those nominated and featured for their willingness to participate in this worthwhile project. The calendar can be viewed and printed by downloading a PDF from Western Health’s website at www.westernhealth.nl.ca/.
