Western Health will be testing its emergency preparedness with an emergency exercise at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Channel-Port aux Basques on Tuesday, October 26th, 2010. The exercise is being conducted in co-operation with 103 Rescue Squadron, 9 Wing Gander.
“This mock event and other exercises similar to it provide us an important opportunity to gauge our ability to respond when “real life” emergencies happen”, stated Michelle House, acting Vice President of Health Protection. “It is critical that with our partners we continue to strengthen this capability in all areas of our region.”
The town of Channel-Port aux Basques and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are also assisting Western Health and 103 Rescue Squadron with this exercise.
Regularly scheduled appointments and clinics at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques will not be affected by the exercise.
Western Health regularly tests its emergency response capabilities most notably during Ocean Guardian III in 2007.
