“This weekend, we are going to celebrate the great work that our Community Advisory Committees have done and provide members with information about community capacity building,” said Heather Taylor, Director of Health Promotion and Primary Health Care. “The committee members will have an opportunity to network and learn from each other.” The conference topics are about creating healthy communities, community initiatives, health promotion and available resources.
“Community Advisory Committees are an excellent resource for our primary health care teams and the region,” says Michelle House, VP, Population Health. “They help to develop health promotion initiatives that work best for their communities.” Community Advisory Committees support Primary Health Care teams by helping to identify the needs in their area and provide input into community projects and initiatives. The committees are made up from community members who have an interest in promoting health in their communities.
Community Advisory Committees are established in the Port Aux Basques, Bonne Bay, Deer Lake and Port Saunders areas. Community Advisory Committees are in the process of being established in the Bay St. George, Burgeo and Bay of Islands areas.
