Please be advised that the visitation ban has been lifted at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre and Emile Benoit House. The visitation ban had been put in place earlier this month due to an outbreak of stomach flu-like illness throughout the facilities.
People who have had vomiting and diarrhea or other flu like symptoms are asked to refrain from visiting any of Western Health’s facilities. Individuals with any of these symptoms should rest at home, drink fluids, practice proper hand washing with hot water and soap, and if the symptoms persist contact their physician.
To prevent the spread of infection in any institution in the Western Health region, we ask the public to follow these simple steps:
• Wash/Sanitize your hands when you enter or leave any of Western Health's facilities.
• There may be times when you are asked to follow special precautions or instructions where you visit i.e. wearing gloves, gowns, masks or washing hands.
Western Health would like to thank the public for their co-operation during this temporary visitation ban and in helping prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
