Digital Mammography Units Receive Accreditation - Jun 3, 2010

Western Health is pleased to announce that its regional mammography service has received accreditation status by the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR). Accreditation ensures that the Medical Imaging Department is continually evaluating practices and technologists and radiologists are participating in continuing education in their field.

“Patients receiving mammography services from Western Health can be assured they are availing of a service that meets strict national standards,” says Sheila Freake, Regional Director of Medical Imaging for Western Health. “We are committed to maintaining this level of excellence on an ongoing basis.”

The Medical Imaging staff worked towards accreditation by submitting necessary documents for review to CAR. Receiving accreditation is affirmation of Western Health’s commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Accreditation for the mammography unit is for a three year period with a review each year.
