Please be advised that visitation restrictions have been extended to the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre. Visitation restrictions are being put in place due to an outbreak of a stomach flu-like illness which may include vomiting and diarrhea. Western Health would like to ask for the public’s co-operation during this temporary visitation ban and to refrain from visiting.

Exceptions for visitation may be made on a case-by-case basis for immediate family members of the terminally ill. Please contact the health centre directly for instructions. Visitation bans are also in effect for Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook and the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques.

People who have had vomiting and diarrhea or other flu like symptoms are asked to refrain from visiting any of Western Health’s facilities. Individuals with any of these symptoms should rest at home, drink fluids, practice proper hand washing with hot water and soap, and if the symptoms persist contact their physician.

Western Health would like to thank the public for their cooperation in helping prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
