Visitation Bans continue at LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques and will be enhanced at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook.
Patients who are coming to Western Memorial Regional Hospital for medical appointments or to be seen in the emergency department are asked to enter the hospital through the outpatients entrance. After you are finished your appointment we request you leave the hospital do not go up on the floors to visit.
All other people are asked to enter the hospital through the main entrance. There are times when you may not be permitted to enter the hospital.
Limited exceptions for visitation may be made on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the nursing unit directly before coming to the hospital for instructions on how to proceed. Children under 14 years of age should not visit within the hospital during this ban.
Western Health would like to ask for the public’s co-operation during this temporary visitation ban. We know that this ban has been on for some time at Western Memorial Regional Hospital but we need to continue these measures to protect our patients from getting another infection combined with the illness that they are being treated for.
Most of Western Memorial Regional Hospital’s Volunteer programs will continue to be suspended on a temporary basis during this visitation ban. Please contact Residential Services Department of Western Health for more information.
People who have any influenza like symptoms including vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, cough, fever, runny nose, and headache are asked to refrain from visiting any of Western Health’s facilities. Also if you have family members or close contact with other people who have these symptoms please do not come into our facilities. These diseases can have a very severe impact on patients who are in hospital with an illness. Individuals with any of these symptoms should rest at home, drink fluids, practice proper hand washing with water and soap, and if the symptoms persist contact their physician.
Western Health would like to ask for the public’s co-operation during this temporary visitation ban and remind individuals that they are not able to visit any of these sites until the visitation ban has been lifted.
To prevent the spread of infection in any institution in the Western Health region, we ask the public to follow these simple steps:
- Wash/Sanitize your hands when you enter or leave any of Western Health's facilities.
- There may be times when you are asked to follow special precautions or instructions where you visit i.e. wearing gloves, gowns, masks or washing hands.
