For the following clinics scheduled November 8, 2009, H1N1 vaccination will be limited to the following priority groups:
- Children six months up to fifty-nine months of age (under the age of 5 years).
- School-aged children from kindergarten to Grade three.
- People five years of age, up to and including 24 years of age, with chronic health conditions.
- Individuals between the ages of 25 and up to, but not including, 40 with chronic respiratory disease such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or cystic fibrosis. Eligibility will require proof of active treatment of the disease (for example, prescription, labeled medication, insurance forms, etcetera).
- All pregnant women in the region who are up to 20 weeks pregnant. The non-adjuvanted vaccine will be available by appointment and all women in this high risk group will be contacted by their Public Health Office by November 6. If anyone in this group does not receive a call please call 1-877-632-H1N1 (4161).
- All women over 20 weeks pregnant should have already received an appointment with their Public Health Nurse. If anyone in this group has not received a call please call 1-877-632-H1N1 (4161).
- Parents or other primary care givers (up to two per child) of children under the age of six months, and of immuno-compromised children and young adults (up to and including 24 years of age) who can not themselves be vaccinated.
- Individuals who are transplant patients (including pre-transplant patients on a wait list and directed by their physician to receive the vaccine and post transplant patients in the last two years).

In addition to the above the following will receive the H1N1 vaccinations:
- Hospital in-patients less than 65 years of age with one or more chronic health conditions.
- For individuals undergoing active cancer treatment (chemotherapy or radiation), arrangements will be made for vaccination at the time of your chemotherapy at a hospital or health centre. For cancer patients receiving home chemotherapy, arrangements will be made by your Continuing Care Nurse.
Please be advised anyone who does not meet the priority groups criteria will be screened out.
If individuals who fit in the above priority groups are unable to be vaccinated due to limited supply of vaccine they will be prioritized for vaccination following the next vaccine shipment.
As part of the H1N1 immunization registration process, persons are required to have their MCP Card with them at the time of registration. People are asked to wear short sleeves or easy roll up sleeves.
All residents will have access to the H1N1 vaccine. Western Health will update the schedule as more information is available. The Provincial Government, working with the Regional Health Authorities, will monitor the mass immunization program as it rolls out and changes may be made to the existing plan.
