Western Health begins a recruitment campaign this week to hire more than 30 permanent nurses. The recruitment campaign is designed to enable Western Health to meet the demand for nursing staff across acute, long term care and community based nursing services.

Over the next week, Western Health will begin an aggressive advertising campaign through newspapers, trade publications, and the media.

“This is the first time in some years that we have been able to offer full time permanent employment to nurses and our nursing graduates”, said Rob Kenny, Vice President of Human Resources, “This is a great opportunity for nurses who want to stay and work in Western Newfoundland.”

As part of the recruitment campaign, Western Health is recruiting nurses in three replacement pools who will provide coverage in all program areas in the following locations in Stephenville/Bay St. George, Corner Brook/Bay of Islands/Humber Valley and Rural communities. The rural replacement pool will enable the organization to provide coverage for relief purposes when such relief is not available within specific areas of the region.

Kenny said, “We are hopeful that we can fill all of these positions in the not too distant future. That will ensure that we can offer consistent services to the residents of this region, as well as providing permanent employment to a significant number of registered nurses in this area.”
