On June 11th, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) updated the status of the H1N1 influneza pandemic alarm from a Level 5 to a Level 6 - which means the world is now in the early stages of a global pandemic. On June 13th, the province confirmed the first case of H1N1 for the province. H1N1 Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory illness that causes symptoms similar to those of the regular human seasonal flu. The symptoms include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, coughing and sore throat. Some people with H1N1 have also reported vomiting and diarrhea.
