What to expect using the emergency department?

  • Western Health's Emergency Departments are here to care for people in our community who have a life threatening illness or injury. When your need is urgent - we are there. Such conditions include but are not limited to: any chest pain, difficulty breathing, a sudden servere headache, vomiting or diarreha, large cut or wound, suicidal thoughts, sudden confusion or weakness, or broken bones.
  • When you arrive at an Emergency Department, you will be registered and seen by a triage nurse. The triage nurse is trained to ensure that the patients who are sickest get seen and cared for first.
  • If you can, remember to bring your MCP care, a list of medications that you are on (or the bottles) and any records you may have concerning your health.
